If you really want to see some gruesome stuff done in the name of religion look at some of the things done during the crusades.

Islamic Crusades Started 4 Centuries Before the Western Crusades

http://factreal.wordpress.com/2012/05/02/islamic-crusades-started-4-centuries-before-the-western-crusades/

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith, becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American… There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”—Theodore Roosevelt, 1907

Do you know what her job will be?  If someone marries her and puts her in his harem, she will never be allowed out.  I had a patient once who was addicted to Meth.  Her father was a no nonsense kind of guy from the mountains, so he went to town, physically picker her up and put her over his shoulder while she kicked and screamed,  He threw her in his truck and drover her to his house in the desert, way out in the desert.  There he chained her to a tree with a big logging chain and locked it with a padlock.  He kept her chained to that tree for 7 months until she was clean.  She told me he saved her life and she was very grateful even though she hated him for the first three months.

Sooooo Paul, talk to her folks, buy a chain and a padlock and straighten her out!

Crusade from the word for cross refers to the taking of the holy land by Christian kings with a papal mandate.

What that article refers to is the expansion of Islam often through jihads.

The crusaders were notable by their extreme brutality of civilian populations.

Using quotes from the bible means very little to me. Even the KKK use passages from the bible to legitimise their actions. Its a book written by men and used and abused by other men just as the Koran is.

But if you want quotes I think quite a good one is "do on to others as you would have them do on to you". I think it really is that simple and someting I try to live by even though I am not a believer.

As for Hitler not being a true Christian I don't believe he was ever excommunicated during his lifetime. How about the inquisitors were they true Christians. They had a papal mandate.

If you see I have said IMO in my original message. That's exactly what it is.

I respect your opinion and I do not really wish to change it. I just offer a different view point.

Excommunication doesn't strip Christianity. It just breaks fellowship with a specific church organization. Normally used against thise whi disrupt thr local services. In Catholic theology Hitler probably went to hell simply by missing the mandatory weekly attendance

My point was not about Hitler and if he went to hell or not. I don't really care. But bad people are bad people no matter what sect or none they belong to. Blaming a religion and all those who belong to it is wrong. It is how genocide happens.

Do you know what her job will be?

She's just a helper in a home there. She said she just pretended to convert to make her boss happy. She said she does not like being that way and will drop it when she leaves the country.

(See my previous post in this thread. I quoted her last messages to me.)

If she were to marry there, then so  be it.

She sounds a little nieve Paul. It's not something I'd be recommending to convert with the intention of just dropping it. As someone else pointed out once you go down that path its not easy to go back.

AFAIK once you convert to Islam your Muslim for life. If no expert but I have heard denouncing the faith comes with treaty of death.

While I have no problem with any of the people I know who are Muslim it is not something I would take lightly. She should be made aware of the consequences'. Many of the Muslims I know are non practicing and have no problem with that but I don't know any to renounce their faith.

I hope this works out for you Paul and your child remains unaffected.

I'm getting a little tired of being interrogated. I am not a historian or expert on religion. I have an opinion this is what I'm sharing.

I said Hitler was Christian because it's a matter of fact and helped with the point I was trying to make. But if you have an alternative point and wish to start a thread about it then you should do that. I am tired of being interviewed on my religious opinion on a thread where someone else is worried about their family members.
